General SciFi entertainment update

I watched Caprica last night. It was very good. I have a soft spot for the desperate father/imperiled daughter dynamic. I think that’s one of the reasons I love Neal Stephenson’s “Diamond Age” so much. I first read it when my daughter was two, about the same age as when we first meet Nell. Zoe Graystone is a bit too powerful to be in need of rescue, but tragedy makes me want to give her the wild young life she would have had without her warped witness for the one true god. I’m looking forward to the series.

I really want to love Dollhouse, but it’s just not happening for me. I want all of the characters to become self-aware enough to miss themselves and then go searching for themselves. I am losing interest in Echo’s person of the week, or Sierra’s person of the week. There are lots of little things to enjoy and brief glimpses of a twisted world I want to move into for an hour every Friday. I really liked seeing Alan Tudyk from Serenity as Alpha. Come on Joss, make me love these characters. I’m open and ready. Ravish me or die, bitch.
