Book Report

Well, I finished Little, Big earlier this week, then gobbled down John Scalzi’s Zoe’s Tale. I enjoyed that. I’m hoping to gather my thoughts on Crowley’s book and make a longer post this weekend.

I’m starting to think it’s time to re-read Anna Karenina. It’s been more than 15 years since the last time. I remember how much different my reaction to the book was at 32 compared to 25 and compared to 19. How much wiser will Tolstoy seem when I’m 49? I have no desire to re-read War and Peace.

I had a brief, passionate affair with Hermann Hesse my senior year in high school. I powered down Narcissus and Goldmund, Magister Ludi, Journey to the East, Siddhartha, Steppenwolf, Damien, and Beneath the Wheel. I reread Narcissus and Goldmund a few years ago. It was painful, I couldn’t find the attraction again.
